Andrea Papandreou Hall in the European Parliament on the initiative of N. Androulaki

The Presidency of the European Parliament accepted the request of Nikos Androulakis for the naming of a room in the premises of the European Parliament with the name of the founder of PASOK, Andreas Papandreou.

Following the initiative he had taken in 2018, but had been suspended due to the forthcoming European elections and then due to the pandemic, Mr. Androulakis, together with the President of the Socialist Group Iratse Garcia Perez, re-submitted the request to be named a room in the European Parliament named after the great Greek politician and founder of PASOK.

As it became known today, the Bureau of the European Parliament at its meeting on 22 November accepted the request of Mr. Androulakis and the Socialist Group and decided to name Andreas Papandreou in the WEISS room N1.2 in his building in Strasbourg, which is located directly opposite the Plenary Hall.

After the announcement of the decision, Mr. Androulakis said: “After three years of effort, the European Parliament honors Andreas Papandreou. Andreas Papandreou was one of the most important Progressive leaders of modern Europe and fought for the strengthening of democracy, social justice and solidarity between peoples “.
