Experts at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), a venture fund for investing in cryptocurrency startups, said that Solana has surpassed Bitcoin and other networks in terms of the number of active addresses.

The report, titled “State of Crypto,” states that the number of active addresses on the Solana network is about 100 million, while the Bitcoin network has only 11 million active addresses. According to experts, Solala’s leading position is due to attention to memcoins developed on this blockchain – in September, 220 million wallets interacted with the blockchain at least once.

Analysts noted that there are now about 617 million cryptocurrency users in the world, but only 5-10% of them are actually active. Most prefer to passively hold cryptocurrency in digital wallets.

According to a16z, the number of active mobile wallet users has increased to 29 million, and now only 12% of them are in the United States. The number of active users from the US has decreased, partly due to regulatory uncertainty in the country. Positive dynamics are observed in countries such as Nigeria, India and Argentina.

To evaluate active users, methods have been developed that allow us to weed out bots, groups of duplicate wallets, and wallets with near-zero balances. The report’s authors used statistical data from crypto applications, such as the MetaMask wallet, and filtered their quantitative indicators according to various criteria.

Earlier, Chinese crypto-journalist and expert Colin Wu published a report according to which in September, spot trading volume on major cryptocurrency exchanges decreased by 22% compared to the previous month.
