Andrew Fletcher keyboardist and one of the founders of the British band Depeche Mode, died at age 60. The news was announced by the band’s Twitter profile on Thursday (26).
“We are shocked and filled with sadness at the untimely passing of our dear friend, family member and bandmate Andy “Fletch” Fletcher.”
“Fletch had a true heart of gold and was always there when you needed support, a lively conversation, a good laugh or a cold beer,” the publication reads. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Fletcher formed the electronic rock band Depeche Mode in 1980, alongside Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Vince Clarke.
Over a 40-year career, the band sold over 100 million records worldwide, reaching 54 songs on the UK charts. As a member of Depeche Mode, Fletcher was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020.
