The chemistry of Andrew Garfield (“The Amazing Spider-Man” and “The Last Man”) and Florence Pugh (“Little Women” and “Oppenheimer”) on the set of “All the Time We Have” it was so electric that they didn’t even hear the cue to cut while filming a sex scene.
During an appearance at the 92nd Street Y on Friday to promote the title, Garfield recalled filming what he described as a “very intimate and passionate sex scene” with Pugh, in which they both did not hear the director scream “ cut”, leading to an awkward moment.
According to images posted on social media from the event, Garfield told the audience that this happened during the first take of the sex scene, which was filmed on a “closed set” with just him, Pugh, the camera operator and the sound operator. . John Crowley the director, was in a different room, next to where they were filming, Garfield said.
“The scene becomes passionate, as we choreograph it and get into it, so to speak, and we go a little further than we should, just because we never hear ‘cut’.”
As time went on, “I feel like we were telepathically saying to each other, ‘This definitely feels like a longer take,’” the actor recalled.
According to Garfield, the pair only realized their mistake when they looked at the team members and saw them facing the wall in an attempt to be polite.
While Garfield acknowledged that the scene lasted a little longer, he and Pugh were both “feeling safe” enough in their filming environment to think, “let’s let this progress and we’ll keep going.”
The film follows Almut, an up-and-coming chef, and Tobias, a recently divorced man, over several decades as the two fall in love after a surprise encounter. As they embark on a path challenged by the limits of time, they learn to cherish every moment of the unconventional route their love story has taken.
“All the Time We Have” arrives in Brazilian cinemas on October 31st.
