The last official update for users of the Xiaomi Mi A1 smartphone came out at the end of this summer, and the newest that came with it was the August security updates (the basis is still the same – Android 9 Pie). But everything that cannot be obtained officially is available for Mi A1 users with POSP – Potato Open Source Project firmware. Here are the latest January security updates for Android, and, more importantly, Android 11.
You can download the update here. However, to install it, you will need to install TWRP Recovery first. This is not difficult for those who have already installed unofficial firmware.
POSP, like any alternative firmware, has its pros and cons. The former include the ability to change the interface (various non-standard icons and graphics), support for the double tapping function to wake up, all the same January security updates, as well as support for aptX (which is not announced at all for Snapdragon 625) and Dirac Sound. Moreover, the latter seriously improves the sound of a smartphone for the better. The disadvantages include the scarcity of wallpapers and a very limited camera application. But both can be dealt with.
