Android 12 Go will be released in 2022 and will receive almost all the features of the full version

Android 12 was released a couple of months ago, and manufacturers are already actively working on releasing updates for their devices. What about smartphones that are released under the Android Go program? At the moment, such devices are running the 11th version of this operating system, but the release of Android 12 Go is expected next year.

Google said there are 200 million active Android Go users worldwide today. The company considers this to be quite a successful indicator, so in 2022 they plan to release a new version of the system. Unlike regular Android, the Go version focuses on making everything run as quickly and smoothly as possible on low-cost smartphones. To do this, Google offers special lightweight versions of their applications with the “Go” prefix. They lack some functions, but in general this does not interfere with full-fledged work.

As for Android 12 Go, developers will bring new features from the standard version of the system. It will support the SplashScreen API, which will allow applications to load slightly faster by streamlining the startup process. The company said the overall speed boost will be 30%. Android 12 Go will also have the ability to hibernate apps that haven’t been launched for a long time. The system will automatically reset all permissions and clear the cache, freeing up the internal memory of the device.

Android 12 Go will bring a lot of smart features. For example, on the screen of recently launched applications, there will be buttons for translating and verbalizing text and other content on web pages. The new version of the OS will also be able to share applications with other users nearby, so they will not need to waste precious megabytes of data. Android 12 Go will allow you to switch to a guest profile on the go from the lock screen. The update will bring a new privacy dashboard to ultra-budget smartphones. As with regular Android 12, users will see small green markers in the upper right corner of the screen whenever the active app is using a microphone or camera.

Judging by the screenshots on the Google blog, the Go version will also receive some of the visual changes introduced in Android 12. Among them – a new notification bar, a redesigned lock screen with larger elements and a system preferences window. However, there seem to be no dynamic themes based on wallpaper. In any case, the fact that Google has managed to squeeze so many additional features into a simplified version of its operating system is truly impressive.
