Android 12 will delight the lazybones: the new auto-rotate function based on the position of the face

As reported by 9to5google, phones running Android 12 may receive an updated auto-rotate feature. Android smartphones have had an auto rotate feature for a long time, but it doesn’t always work the way users would like.

For example, if you use your smartphone in a supine position and turn on its side, then with the auto-rotate function enabled, the image may take a landscape orientation. Of course, you can always turn off the auto-rotate feature, but Android 12 will have an improved auto-rotate feature based on the position of users’ faces. The smartphone will use the front-facing camera to check if the user is looking at the screen, and if so, which way his head is turned.

For obvious privacy reasons, this camera check will be performed entirely on your device and will not save or send your photos anywhere.

The source suggests that all Android 12 smartphones will eventually receive this feature, but Google may initially make it exclusive to its Pixel smartphones.

Today it became known that Android 12 received the “sweet” name Snow Cone and native one-handed control mode.
