According to XDA Developers, an analysis of the beta version of the Android 12 operating system showed that screenshots of the screen will be saved in a different folder and will not be mixed with photos.
At the moment, many Google Photos users are faced with the fact that their smartphones save screenshots along with photos, and on some smartphones this cannot be disabled. On smartphones Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and Realme, screenshots will be placed in the DCIM folder, from where they are automatically saved to Google Photos.
According to XDA Developers, already in the Android 12 beta, there is text indicating that manufacturers should save screenshots in the Pictures> Screenshots folder instead of the DCIM folder, which will be reserved for photos.
If you want, you can continue to upload screenshots to Google Photos by simply selecting this folder for automatic backup. This option is in the settings of the Google Photos app, under “Back up and sync”> “Back up device folders”, where you can choose any folders to save in the cloud.
