Android Auto has ended support for older smartphones. Google makes things worse

At the beginning of 2022, Google quietly abandoned support for older smartphones in Android Auto – then the developers announced that the system can now only connect to gadgets based on Android 8.0 and newer (there was compatibility with Android 6.0 and newer). Now users have noticed that owners of older devices will not be able to “sit out” on previous versions of Android Auto – they have begun to display a non-closing notification that the application needs to be updated. This is reported by 9To5Google.

Apparently, this message in Android Auto appears in all the latest versions of the application, from 7.0 to 7.7

According to 9To5Google, as of May 2022, the number of users of Android 7.0 and older versions of the operating system is less than 15% – the new requirements of Android Auto will not affect too many people. However, the very fact that Google deliberately deprives owners of older smartphones of the opportunity to use Android Auto is surprising.
