With the release of Android 12, the operating system has received many improvements in the area of gaming. One of the key innovations is the Game Dashboard, which provides quick access to various useful tools during the game, a YouTube Live broadcast widget and demonstration of achievements from Google Play Games, as well as a function to change performance profiles. The latter option requires developers to implement the Game Mode API into the game – XDA Developers has studied popular games and found it in only a few projects. Game Mode APIs currently support Minecraft, Sniper 3D и Temple Run 2, but in Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile and Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated now it is definitely not.

If the game supports the Game Mode API, the system allows you to choose one of three performance profiles: “Performance” (increase FPS without saving battery power), “Standard” and “Save battery” (lower resource consumption to save battery power). Now there are only two simple ways to check if a game supports the new API: by the presence of the corresponding item in the game panel or by the presence of the “Game Optimization” section on the game page in the system settings. In some cases, the application can support only one of the additional modes, and not all at once – for example, Minecraft.

An author from XDA Developers noted that when activating game modes in Sniper 3D, he did not notice any differences from the standard – perhaps the function is not ready yet.
