The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) announced this Friday (26) that the tariff flag in force for the month of September remains green. It is the fifth month in a row that energy bills will not be charged additionally.
According to the Agency, the decision “reflects good conditions for electricity generation, even considering the forecast of growth in energy consumption in the country.”
The flag is valid for all consumers connected to the National Interconnected System (SNI).
tariff flags
THE green flag appears on the electricity bill when there are favorable conditions for energy generation. With this, there is no increase for the consumer in the tariff.
already the yellow flag signals that some conditions that make energy generation more expensive have begun to appear. As a result, the tariff increases by R$ 1.874 for every 100 kilowatt-hours (kWh) consumed in the month.
THE Red flag signals a worsening in power generation conditions. Level 1 of the banner represents an increase of R$3,971 for every 100 kilowatt-hours (kWh) consumed. Level 2, on the other hand, represents an increase of R$9,492 for every 100 kilowatt-hours.
THE water scarcity flag created last year, represents an additional charge of R$ 14.20 for every 100 kilowatt-hours consumed.
water crisis
Between September 2021 and April of this year, the tariff flag called the water crisis was in force, above the most expensive additional tariff, red 2. This was because the country was experiencing the worst crisis in reservoirs in 90 years, which forced the government to higher cost thermoelectric plants.
With the water crisis flag, electricity bills had an additional tariff of R$ 14.20 more for every 100 kilowatt-hours consumed.
Increase in the value of flags
At the end of June, Aneel approved new tariff flag values. The approved proposal applied increases of around 60% in the values of the yellow and red tariff flags 1.
