Aneel maintains green tariff flag for the month of June, with no extra charge

The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) informed this Friday (27) that it maintains the green flag for the month of June for all consumers connected to the National Interconnected System – the energy transmission network that covers almost the entire Brazilian territory. .

With the green flag, which indicates favorable conditions for energy generation, no extra charge on the energy bill.

This is the second green flag announcement made by the Agency since the end of the Water Scarcity Flag, which came into effect in 2021 to compensate for the increase in generation costs due to the serious water crisis that the country was facing at the time, which housed the triggering of thermoelectric plants.

The flag represented an additional charge of R$ 14.20 for every 100 kilowatt-hours consumed.

When the water shortage was announced in August of last year, thermal plants accounted for 29% of the energy generated in Brazil, according to the National System Operator (ONS).

Understand the tariff flags

THE green flag appears on the electricity bill when there are favorable conditions for energy generation. With this, there is no increase for the consumer in the tariff.

already the yellow flag signals that some conditions that make energy generation more expensive have begun to appear. As a result, the tariff increases by R$ 1.874 for every 100 kilowatt-hours (kWh) consumed in the month.

THE Red flag signals a worsening in power generation conditions. Level 1 of the banner represents an increase of R$ 3,971 for every 100 kilowatt-hours (kWh) consumed. Level 2, on the other hand, represents an increase of R$9,492 for every 100 kilowatt-hours.

THE water scarcity flag created last year, represents an additional charge of R$ 14.20 for every 100 kilowatt-hours consumed.
