The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro arrested, this Monday (16), another anesthesiologist accused of raping patients during surgeries. The man, of Colombian nationality, was arrested at his residence in Barra da Tijuca, west of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
He also responds to an inquiry into the production and storage of child abuse scenes. According to the police, the man stored more than 20,000 files containing images of sexual abuse involving children and adolescents on his electronic devices.
The anesthetist is accused of raping patients in public and private hospitals. The police hope to find the victims, and the seized materials will be analyzed.
In July last year, anesthesiologist Giovanni Quintella Bezerra, 31, was arrested red-handed after being filmed raping a patient during childbirth surgery at the State Hospital for Women Heloneida Studart, in São João do Meriti, in Baixada Fluminense. .
Members of the medical team recorded the moment when Bezerra passed his penis on the patient’s face while she was sedated and lying on a stretcher. The images also show that the doctor introduced his genitalia into the mother’s mouth during the surgery.
Federal Law 11.108/2005, known as the Companion’s Law, guarantees parturients the right to the presence of a companion during labor, delivery and the immediate postpartum period in the health services of the Unified Health System (SUS), whether own or affiliated network.
The law is valid for both normal and cesarean delivery, and the presence of the companion cannot be prevented by the hospital, doctors, nurses or any other member of the health team.
