Angelina Jolie to be honored at Toronto Film Festival; find out more

The actress Angelina Jolie 49, will be honored at the Toronto International Film Festival 2024 with the prize” Tribute Award in Impact Media” . The honor seeks to exalt the artist’s leadership in creating a union between social impact and cinema. The event will take place from September 5th to 15th .

Previous winners of the award include Pedro Almodóvar, Mira Nair and Alanis Obomsawin. In addition to an extensive resume with dozens of films, such as “Maleficent,” “Girl, Interrupted,” “Lara Croft,” and the “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” franchise, Angelina Jolie has over 20 years of humanitarian work focusing on refugees and human rights.

“Angelina Jolie is a multifaceted talent who has entertained audiences for decades while consistently using her platform to champion important causes,” Cameron Bailey, CEO of the festival, told Variety.

“We are honored to present her with the 2024 Tribute Award in Impact Media. This award recognizes her exceptional achievements in filmmaking and her unwavering commitment to positive change, solidifying her status as a true humanitarian and global force to be reckoned with.”

Among the films selected for the event is “Ainda Estou Aqui”, which brings together the Brazilian duo Walter Salles and Fernanda Montenegro and “Os Enforcados”, also a national work that features Leandra Leal and Irandhir Santos.
