Anitta is nominated for the first time at the VMAs with “Envolver”

The singer anita won his first nomination for Video Music Awards (VMA) one of the main entertainment awards, promoted by the television channel MTV . The award announced the nominees this Tuesday (26) through its website and social networks.

The nomination was earned through the viral hit “To involve “, which earned Anitta a record in the Guinness world records, for having reached the Spotify global Top 1 on March 24 of this year – being recognized as “the first solo Latin artist to reach the first place on Spotify”.

In addition to Anitta, five other artists are competing in the “Best Latin Artists” category: Bad Bunny, with “Titi Me Preguntó”; Becky G and Karol G, with “MAMIII”; Daddy Yankee, with “REMIX”; J Balvin and Skrillex, with “In Da Getto”; and Farruko, with “Pepas”.

Other nominees include Foo Fighters, Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, Lizzo, Lil Nas X and Drake.

Anitta became the first Brazilian to perform at the VMAs in 2021, but she had not yet been nominated in any of the categories. She, however, is not the first Brazilian to have been nominated for the award. The first was Any Gabrielly, a member of the international group Now United.

The VMA awards ceremony takes place on August 28, and winners are chosen through popular vote on the event’s website.
