Anitta is nominated for the revelation artist award at the Grammy 2023

Brazilian singer Anitta was nominated this Tuesday (15) for the category of “Best New Artist” (revelation artist, in free translation) at the Grammy 2023. It is the first time that a Brazilian artist competes in this category.

Anitta exploded worldwide with the hit “Envolver”, which reached the Top 1 Global on Spotify, a feat that was also unprecedented for Brazilians. The awards take place on February 5.

It is the 22nd Brazilian nomination for the greatest music award. The last ones took place in 2020 in the categories Best Instrumental Arrangement with Voice Accompaniment, with Diego Figueiredo, and Best Latin Jazz Album, with “Sorte!”, by Thalma de Freitas, but both did not win.

Anitta competes along with Omar Apollo, Domi &JD Beck, Muni Long, Samara Joy, Latto, Tobe Nwigwe, Molly Tuttle, Wet Leg and the Italian rock band Maneskin.

The last time a Brazilian artist won a Grammy was in 2017, with Eliane Elias in the Best Latin Jazz Album category, with “Dance of Time”.

Beyoncé, Adele and Harry Styles dominate nominations

Pop star Beyonce led the field of Grammy-nominated musicians, setting her up against Adele, Harry Styles and others for the top honor for album of the year.

Beyoncé has received nine nominations for music’s highest honors. This brought her career total to 88, tying her with husband Jay-Z as the most nominated artist in Grammy history.

Her album “Renaissance” will compete for album of the year with Adele’s “30”, Harry Styles’ “Harry’s House”, Lizzo’s “Special” and others.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar, also up for album of the year for “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” received eight nominations in total, followed by Adele and singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile with seven each.
