Singer Anitta opened up about her relationship with fame and the current moment in her career. The outburst happened during her participation in influencer Bianca Andrade’s new interview and makeup panel, “No Corre da Make”, which aired on Thursday (20).
The video was recorded in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where Anitta would perform on the “Funk Generation” tour. In the chat, the artist spoke about her relationship with mental health and how she has been dealing with fame lately.
“There was a moment in my life where I only worked, where I only knew what work was. I think there has to be a balance, you know? Before, I wanted to be the best at everything, the biggest. Nowadays, I don’t want to be the biggest or the best, I want to be happy”, she declares in the video, published on Bianca’s social networks on Friday (21).
“I think I’m no longer willing to do the things that need to be done to be at the top. Being at the top implies and demands several things from me that I am no longer willing to do. To be the most talked about artist, I have to show my day 24 hours a day on Instagram. So, I’m not going to be the most talked about, because I no longer want to show 24 hours of my day on my Instagram”, she added.
During the chat, which took place while Bianca was putting on Anitta’s makeup, the singer also spoke about the legacy she wants to leave for her fans. “I just want to make sure that if I die tomorrow, I left something incredible for people to be inspired by, to be better. I want to feel like I left the world better than it was before. But, before, I had this desire to make it better for the whole world, today I want to make it better for whoever is possible within my limitations,” she says.
In the section, Anitta also spoke about having lost followers after releasing the video for “Aceita”, which portrays her relationship with Candomblé. “I’ve been a Candomblé fan since I was a child and, before, I didn’t talk about it because the Candomblé people themselves said it was very dangerous,” she says.
“After a few years, I started talking, I didn’t care. I’m not killing anyone, poisoning anyone, wiping out anyone’s race. Whatever I can do that is truly mine, I will do. If talking about my religion is going to push me away, then thank God he really pushes me away. I don’t want people like that on my side anymore. I want people on my side who accept differences”, he adds.
