O “Funk Generation” a musical album released by singer Anitta in April this year, was chosen as one of the best latin albums of 2024 so far by the North American magazine Billboard. The artist shares the ranking with names such as Kali Uchis, Featherweight and Shakira .
In total, 24 albums were selected. Anitta occupies the 23rd position with “Funk Generation”.
“You don’t even need to know what Anitta is singing about to really get into her music, the Brazilian funk beat alone that drives her songs is compelling enough. After struggling to become popular with more pop-oriented albums, Anitta abandons trying to ‘fit in’ and goes all in on the sound that made her a household name in her native Brazil. ‘Funk Generation’ is a testament to the trilingual star’s determination to globalize baile funk,” the magazine highlighted about the album.
“Funk Generation” presents Rio de Janeiro funk in Portuguese, English and Spanish and features a vast team of renowned producers. When launching the project, Anitta emphasized that the intention of the album was to explore the power and sensuality of the rhythm that marks her roots in music.
“It’s a rhythm born in the favelas, where I grew up, that exudes resistance and art in all communities. I’m proud to work on a project about a genre that is unfairly stigmatized in Brazil, but that is gradually gaining worldwide recognition,” said the singer on social media.
