Ankara accuses Greece of expansion on the occasion of the anniversary of the Fall

The Turkish Ministry of Defense launched a fierce attack with accusations of expansion in Greece, with a series of posts referring to the anniversary of the Fall of Istanbul.

In particular, referring to yesterday’s anniversary and Hagia Sophia, the neighboring country’s Ministry of Defense states that “It is delusional to see Constantinople, which was conquered 569 years ago, dreaming of the Roman Empire or Byzantium. Those who long for a situation before years, clearly show who is expansive and who is an obstacle to peace. ”

“Hagia Sophia, which has functioned as a mosque for centuries, has been under the protection of the Turkish nation since 1453,” it added.

The Turkish ministry continues that “the fact that those who’s supposedly mourn for Hagia Sophia did not oppose the demolition of mosques in Greece, which have been a cultural heritage site since 1500, and the construction of cinemas, exhibition spaces, accommodation and warehouses in their place, shows a very serious to explain even as hypocrisy “.

Escalating further, Ankara adds that “the Greek administration, which does not even provide burial ground for Muslims when they die, is trying to deceive people with crude illusions to cover up its dead-end realities.”

Concluding, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that “We honor the memory of Fatih Sultan Mehmet (Muhammad II the Conqueror) and his heroic army, which conquered Constantinople 569 years ago, with gratitude.”

In its posts, the Turkish ministry avoids naming a Greek official, but probably photographs Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, who in a post he made yesterday said about the anniversary of the Fall:

“An open day for our national memory. Today, the transformation of Hagia Sophia, a World Heritage Site, into a mosque, like the vandalism of the Imperial Gate, saddens every person who respects history.”
