Ankara-Paris relations in “crisis”: Fidan’s accusations about Islamic French citizens

France’s relations with Turkey appear strained, whose Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, during a press conference in Istanbul today, called on Paris to repatriate and try Islamist French citizens currently held in Syria. The head of Turkish diplomacy accused France of not caring about Turkey’s security by entrusting the detention of Islamists to the Syrian Democratic Forces, where the Kurds are the dominant force. Finally asked to comment on the Kurdish call in favor of the deployment of French military forces in northwestern Syria, the Turkish foreign minister said that Ankara’s only interlocutor on this issue is the US and not those who may be hiding behind it.
