Ankara protests ‘anti-Turkish propaganda’ after Kurdish killings in Paris

France’s ambassador to Turkey was summoned by the Foreign Ministry today to be served with a formal protest by Ankara over the “anti-Turkish propaganda” it believes is being carried out in France after murder of three Kurds in Paris.

“We expressed our displeasure at the propaganda launched against our country by circles of the PKK,” the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, a diplomatic img said, announcing that the Foreign Ministry had summoned Ambassador Hervé Magro.

Ankara accuses Paris of allowing PKK supporters to demonstrate in the streets of the French capital. Some placards held by those gathered spoke of Turkey’s links with the French attacker. These accusations were repeated by “representatives of the French government and politicians”, assured the Turkish diplomat, claiming that “the French government and some politicians were used as propaganda instruments”.

An adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday condemned the riots in Paris after the killing of the three Kurds, blaming the PKK, “the same terrorist organization you support in Syria,” he said.

The 69-year-old Frenchman accused of the murders told his inquest that he harbored a “pathological hatred” of foreigners.
