AND Actress and writer Anna Kanakis has died at the age of 61. The announcement of his passing, which occurred in Rome on Monday 20 November, was released by Husband Marco Merati Foscarini. Born in Sicily in 1962, daughter of a Greek engineer and a lawyer from Messina, at just 15 years old, in September 1977, Anna was elected Miss Italy. She becoming the first girl to be elected so young, after a change in the rules. Then her career starts actressinvolved in almost thirty films and fiction.
A career born by chance, in the period in which she found herself single, in Rome, after the end of her brief marriage to the musician Claudio Simonettimarried in 1981. At the time Anna was a model, but one evening the professional turning point came: «At dinner, with a friend who dreamed of being a director and washed his hair with soap, named Peppuccio Tornatore, the question: “Anna, you have in your eyes the liveliness and changeability of expression of the great actors, the “speckles”, why don’t you try acting?”. With little conviction I followed his advice, did a black and white photo shoot, and agreed to meet an agent indicated by Peppuccio. On the big screen Kanakis was in great demand especially in the 1980s, directed several times by Castellano And Pipolo and from Sergio Martino in movies like Attila scourge of God (1982), Eye, evil eye, parsley and fennel (1983), Acapulco, first beach… on the left (1983). More recently TV had often wanted her with co-protagonist roles, as in West wind (2002) and in The third truth (2007). At this point for years, however, his main occupation had become writing.
