Anna Kendrick opens up about her abusive relationship and her hopes of having children

In 2022, Anna Kendrick opened up about the “emotional and psychological abuse” she experienced in an abusive relationship, which lasted six long years. She is now in a talk with Shepard and Monica Padman for the Armchair Expert podcastthe actress revealed new details of that love affair.

Anna recounted the many attempts she made to save that relationship, coming to believe that the changes in her partner’s attitude were the product of an illness or that she was not good enough for him.

I was with someone, it was someone I lived with, for all intents and purposes, my husband. We create embryos together. And then about six years or so later, I remember telling my brother that he was living with a stranger and I didn’t know what had happened when things got really bad.

Kendrick tried to justify the change in her husband by believing that he had a brain tumor, even going so far as to ask him directly.

Maybe he has a brain tumor, or maybe I have a brain tumor. So we can do something about it. There is an answer, a moment of relief.

The 37-year-old actress went on to say that she tried to work on her relationship while her partner remained hostile. Furthermore, she noted that whenever she tried to talk about an incident between them she would end up “curling up like a ball” with him “yelling” at her all over her.

Over time, these attitudes led her to understand that she was in an abusive relationship, although it was not easy.

There was an inherent idea in me that I was so reprehensible that this person who had loved me deeply for six years had suddenly realized how horrible I was or something. The shame, that lasts much longer.

Finally, the protagonist of Perfect notes He revealed that everything got worse when his partner confessed that he had feelings for another woman and did not want to be by her side. This led her to fall into depression, cancel projects and ask for help, which she is grateful for today, because with the passage of time, she has managed to recover her self-esteem and her security.

I started seeing two therapists a week and trying to learn to meditate. I got into Al-Anon and all of these things ended up being great for me in the long run, but at first I went into them thinking, ‘I need to be told how to stop being crazy.’
