Anne Hathaway praises Christopher Nolan for rescuing her career: “Angel”

Anne Hathaway thanked Christopher Nolan for rescuing his career after his work was widely criticized on the internet.

The 41-year-old actress faced harsh comments about her performance and personality after winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for his role in “Les Misérables” in 2012.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Anne recalled having searched her name on Google shortly after taking home the acclaimed statuette in 2013, finding as one of the main search results something like: 'Why does everyone hate Anne Hathaway?'.

The star stated that Nolan “saved” her by hiring her, some time later, for the 2014 hit “Interstellar”.

“A lot of people didn't offer me roles because they were too worried about how toxic my image had become online,'' he lamented.

“I had an angel, Christopher Nolan, who didn't care about that and gave me one of the most beautiful roles I've ever played in one of the best films I've ever been a part of,” she celebrated.

Anne was offered the role of NASA scientist Dr. Amelia Brand in the 53-year-old filmmaker's space travel epic. The pair had previously worked on the same set when Hathaway played Selina Kyle in “The Dark Knight Rises” in 2012.
