New information about death of Anne Heche came to light. According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s report, obtained by PEOPLE and relayed by APE-MPE, the actor was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the accident on the 5th of August.
Although the tests showed that she had used cocaine and cannabis in the past, she was completely sober when she died.
“The presence of benzoylecgonine, its inactive metabolite, was seen in her blood cocaine, meaning it had been used in the past, but not at the time of the accident. Also, cannabinoids were detected in her urine, but not in her blood. So this also concerns previous use and not at the time of the injury,” a representative of the medical examiner confirmed to the magazine.
The coroner’s report also states that the cause of her death was severe burns. According to the spokesperson, the burns were so severe that they prevented her body from absorbing oxygen effectively, which led to “brain damage” that ultimately killed her.
