Anne Rice, author of the gothic novel “Interview with a Vampire” has died

Ann Rice, author of the gothic novel “Interview with a Vampire”, passed away at the age of 80. According to the BBC, the beloved author, whose books have sold more than 150 million copies, died on Saturday night surrounded by members of her family.

The American author “left” due to complications in her health after a stroke, as her son Christopher Rice announced on her Facebook page. “In the last hours, I sat next to her in the hospital bed, contemplating in awe her achievements and courage,” the author’s son wrote in his post.

The book “Interview with a Vampire” was published in 1976 and became a best seller. In 1994, he made his way to the movies starring Tom Cruise (as the vampire Lesta) and Brad Pitt (as Louis), which was a huge success in theaters.

After the success of “Interview with a Vampire”, Rice wrote a series of books starring the charming and dangerous “Lestat”, called “The Chronicles of the Vampire”. Another of the novels in this series, entitled “The Queen of the Cursed”, was also made into a movie in 2002.

Rice was also involved in erotic literature, writing under pseudonyms such as “Ann Rampling”.

“Our family is deeply saddened. As a mother, she always supported me completely and taught me to pursue my dreams, reject conformism and face the dark voices of fear and self-doubt. “As a writer, he taught me to defy gender restrictions and surrender to my obsessive passions,” the author’s son wrote in his post.
