The China’s consumer price index stood at -0.3% in April’s monthly reading, worsening the -0.2% expected. This is the second consecutive month in negative after marking -0.5% in March.
Year-on-year inflation grew 0.9%, surpassing the previous 0.4% and being one tenth below the estimated 1%. This is the second month in a row with the annual CPI positive, and the reading is the highest seen since September 2020.
China also published its production price data for April, which showed a growth of 6.8%, above the 4.4% in March and the 6.6% expected. This is the highest rate of rise recorded since October 2017.
