The global hacker group Anonymous has announced that it hacked the Israeli military and managed to obtain more than 250,000 IDF documents related to its operational activities. According to the Jerusalem Post, the organization claimed to have gained control of more than 20 gigabytes of data including PDF files, Word and PowerPoint presentations. In fact, it is the organization's second strike in Israel this month, as earlier it had targeted the Ministry of Justice. IDF officers called the cyberstrike “psychological warfare” and said no classified or critical documents were leaked. “If there was indeed a breach, it is unlikely that access extended directly to IDF computers – instead, the files may have been obtained from civilian computers, potentially violating regulations,” Israeli officials said on condition of anonymity.
