Anonymous hacked Rosatom’s website and began leaking company data online

An Anonymous spokesperson confirmed to Taiwan News that the hacker group had hacked into the website of Russia’s state-owned nuclear energy company, Rosatom. On March 4, Russian forces took control of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, with one building of the complex catching fire during the fighting.

Ukraine notified the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Saturday (March 12) that Russia plans to transfer the ZNPP under the full control of Rosatom. Russia denied the accusation, but Rosatom officials reportedly arrived in Zaporozhye on Friday (March 11) and said the plant was now part of their company, according to the source.

An Anonymous spokesperson told Taiwan News that a new front page has been added to the websites of Rosatom, Rosenergoatom and the All-Russian Research Institute for the Operation of Nuclear Power Plants (VNIIAES).

The team promised to share “several gigabytes of data” with information about the company’s security. On Tuesday (March 15) the first 124 MB of data. When asked what data was stolen, an Anonymous representative replied that these were sample files from the Rosatom network, user tables from the database, and credentials of users on the internal network.
