45 troops who were captive was released in the southwestern part of Colombia, under the control of former revolutionary armed forces (FARC) rebels, according to a spokesman for the Defense Ministry who spoke to the French Agency. Hundreds of residents had captured 72 soldiers after a operation carried out by the Colombian army in the Mikai Gorge – strategic importance for cocaine cartels – an area that is a stronghold of the Central Staff (Estado Mayor Central / EMC) of the largest Mordisko. It is one of the parts of the former FARC – the formerly larger guerrilla faction in Latin America – that reject the 2016 peace agreement and continue their armed action. Yesterday, the army had released 27 from the captured soldiers.
