Another handy new addition to Android 12. Sharing Wi-Fi passwords just got easier

Enthusiasts from the XDA Developers community of mobile developers found one of the features of the future update in the documentation for the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) project. The innovation will make it easier to transfer the password to the Wi-Fi network to another device.

On smartphones with Android 10, it is already possible to share the Wi-Fi password using a QR code, but this method has a number of disadvantages. The most important of these disadvantages is that you need to physically hold one smartphone above the other in order to scan the QR code.

In Android 12, Google developers will simplify the process – it will be possible to transfer the password using the Nearby Share function. This removes the need for physical contact or scanning any codes, you can share the password just being in the same room.

Recall that Nearby Share replaced Android Beam and is very similar to Apple AirDrop. It is a function of fast pairing and data transfer between devices.
