Another key developer left Ethereum

Lead Ethereum developer Eric Conner announced his resignation from the project, citing problems with the leadership of the non-profit organization Ethereum Foundation (EF).

“I’m not .eth anymore. Perhaps someday those in leadership positions will come together with the community, but for now I’m leaving. I sincerely hope in my heart that Ethereum will succeed. Good luck,” wrote a programmer who has worked in the ecosystem for 11 years.

According to Conner, he will focus on projects in the area of the intersection of cryptocurrencies and artificial intelligence. For starters, he will join the team behind the development of the “sovereign” AI agent Freysa.

His post followed the statement of Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin that all decisions on changes in EF management are made solely by him.

“The person who defines the new EF leadership team is me. One of the goals of the current reform is to create a “proper Council” in the organization, but until this happens, it will be me,” Buterin emphasized.

On January 18, he announced “significant changes” in the fund’s management amid growing criticism of the organization’s activities. Buterin also described the goals of the structure, which largely coincided with the expressed wishes.

Part of the community decided that we were talking about the resignation of the current EF CEO Aya Miyaguchi – a popular idea is to replace her with ex-Ethereum researcher Danny Ryan.

Buterin cited their calls for continued pressure for leadership changes, and also recalled Conner’s support for Ryan’s candidacy. The programmer wrote on January 15 that otherwise “the time for an uprising will come.”

“If you keep the pressure on, you are creating an environment that is actively toxic for top talent. Some of the top Ethereum developers recently expressed to me in correspondence their disgust at the atmosphere created by people like you on social networks. You’re making my job harder. And you only reduce the chance that I will have at least some interest in doing “what you want,” Buterin said.

In December, Max Reznik, a developer from the ConsenSys team, announced his departure from the Ethereum ecosystem to the Solana project Anza. He referred to disappointment with the development vector of the second largest cryptocurrency by capitalization.
