Russia’s military satellite “Meridian 2” burned down, the propaganda Russian resource TASS reports, citing data from the US Aerospace Defense Command NORAD. This is the second message about a burnt-out Russian satellite this month.
It is reported that on April 23, the satellite went out of orbit and burned up in the Earth’s atmosphere.
Currently, the site of the company Leo Labs, which is engaged in tracking satellites, does not display the orbit of “Meridian 2”, unlike “Meridian 1, 3” and other satellites in this series.
TASS writes that Meridian 2 was launched on May 21, 2009. It did not enter the target orbit due to the premature shutdown of the third stage of the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle, however, the possibility of partial operation remained.
