ANP authorizes gasoline and ethanol to be delivered by delivery

The National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) approved, on Thursday (4), changes in the rules for marketing fuel across the country. The main novelty in the announced package is the release of delivery. With this, the stations will be able to deliver regular gasoline or ethanol at home. The measure, however, will only be valid after publication in the Official Gazette of the Union.

Asked about the safety of this type of service –since the stations have the structure to face emergencies– the ANP informed that “all delivery will be monitored in real time and georeferenced”.

The agency also said that the new measure can only be made within the limits of the municipality where the authorized retailer is located. Posts that want to adhere to the changes will have to be up to date with the ANP’s Quality Monitoring Program.

Another novelty is the elimination of one decimal place from prices. Currently, the price shown on the pump has three decimal places. With the new rule, it will only be two decimal places.

After the resolution is published, the stations have a period of 180 days to change the display of fuel prices. The ANP defends that a value with only two decimal places will facilitate the understanding of consumers.

The new measures began to be discussed by the ANP board after the truck drivers’ strike in 2018. This year, the agency reported that it held public consultations to debate the issue.

In September, the federal government published in the Diário Oficial da União a decree that regulates the Provisional Measure for gas stations to buy ethanol directly from producers.

The Union believes that selling ethanol directly from the mill to the gas station can reduce the transaction price and, therefore, lower the price of ethanol at the time of supply.
