A giant anteater was rescued after being found with all four of its paws burned in an area affected by fires in the Brasília National Forest (Flona) on Monday afternoon (23).

According to the Brasília Zoo Foundation, after being rescued, the animal was sent to the Wild Animal Triage Center (Cetas) and then taken to receive the necessary treatment for its injuries at the Brasília Zoo Veterinary Hospital.

Due to the burns, the female needed to receive dressings on all four paws, which were later bandaged.

For now, the animal is residing at the Brasília Zoo under observation by professionals at the unit while it recovers.

THE CNN awaits feedback from the Wildlife Triage Center (Cetas) and the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) with more information about the rescue.
