The Chief US Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Anthony Fauci makes another gift to the world, reports APE.
The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases gives the 3D model of COVID-19, on which he relied to help the US Congress better understand the virus, at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington.
“I think when you get to a certain stage, you have things that are more valuable to the general public than you hold on to,” he said. Fauchi in his statement.
The model was made at the US National Institutes of Health with a 3D printer. Shows the building blocks of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, including the spike protein that paves the way for the virus to enter human cells.
“I wanted to choose something that was very important to me because I used it so often,” Fauci told the New York Times.
The model will be part of the Smithsonian’s collection of medicine and science. The museum’s curators are preparing an exhibition that will examine the 200 years of medicine in the USA and will record the country’s experience during the coronavirus pandemic.
The exhibition will include items related to the work of Dr. AIDS Faux and a photo of a New Yorker wearing a Faux T-shirt.
