Anton Gorelkin recalled that, according to the provisions of the current legislation, from November 1, Russian individual entrepreneurs and companies will be able to legally engage in mining and extract cryptocurrency on an industrial scale only if they are included in a special register.
Initially, it was assumed that the register of Russian miners would be developed and maintained by the Ministry of Digital Development. However, according to Gorelkin, the Federal Tax Service (FTS) has more experience and competence in this area.
“This is the right and logical step, since the Federal Tax Service is one of our most high-tech departments. And the department has much more experience working with the cryptocurrency market, as well as with miners, than the Ministry of Digital Development,” commented Gorelkin.
It is expected that the register of Russian miners will not be publicly available, but will be available only for official use, the deputy added.
Earlier, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Information Policy stated that all digital assets that are in one way or another connected with Russia may automatically fall under international sanctions.
