Antonio Batista: Companies need to listen to workers to retain talent

The number of voluntary resignation requests has grown in Brazil and in the United States and the CNN Specialist in management and business Antonio Batista da Silva Jr. talked about this phenomenon.

“Previously, success was measured by job title and salary, but the relationship with work has changed,” he explained. Individual well-being, enjoying what you do and generating a positive impact on society and the environment are factors that have come to be taken into account.

Brazil is experiencing a wave of voluntary layoffs, with around 600,000 people a month leaving their jobs. Batista says that the profile of people who resign are young people under 30, with a higher level of education.

He cites three main reasons: the fear of losing autonomy and flexibility with the end of remote work; the desire to leave a place with a toxic corporate culture; and, among the professionals with the highest qualifications and the most disputed ones, receive better proposals.

The challenge for companies is to reinforce the retention of professional talent.

For this, Batista explains: “It is necessary to hear what the workers want”. In addition, businesses must have a sense of purpose and deliver on their proposals.
