THE CNN Specialist in management and business Antonio Batista da Silva Jr. spoke, this Friday (20), about how LGBTphobia affects the work environment – discriminatory practice has been a crime in Brazil since 2019.
“Research shows that almost 70% of LGBTQIA+ people do not reveal their sexual orientation in companies, and 73% say they have already suffered discrimination in organizations,” said Batista.
“For many people, the work environment is an extension of their home, so it is very important that this environment is welcoming, offering physical and psychological safety for employees. Companies need to express their support for defending the rights of LGBTQIA+ people not only on commemorative dates, but throughout the year”, says the expert.
“Leaders need to be more inclusive, study and learn about the subject, in addition to having an empathetic attitude towards members of the LGBTQIA+ community”, concludes Batista.
