Anvisa approves the adoption of a vaccination certificate for loading on cargo ships

The Collegiate Board of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) unanimously approved, on Wednesday (8), the adoption of the full vaccination certificate against Covid-19 for crew members who operate or will embark on platforms and cargo ships in Brazilian ports, due to the advancement of the Ômicron variant of the coronavirus.

“The agency considered vaccination as the guiding principle for sanitary measures for the operation and for the embarkation and disembarkation of platforms located in Brazilian jurisdictional waters and of cargo vessels”, said the rapporteur of the measure, director Alex Machado Campos.

An RT-PCR or RT-LAMP test will still be required to detect the disease, which must be performed up to 72 hours before boarding. The rapid antigen test will also be accepted. IgG e IgM, however, must be done 24 hours in advance. In addition to testing, a screening will be carried out. for symptom identification.

If a case of Covid-19 is identified on the vessel, all persons on board will be considered contacts of the infected person, due to working conditions. The diagnosis must also be informed to Anvisa.

The adoption of work quarantine, vessel quarantine or crew change will be carried out by the person responsible for the vessel, taking into account the location of the port, itinerary, availability of alternative crew and operational and logistical capacity. The chosen option must be previously approved by the Anvisa unit responsible for the port.
