Anvisa asking for cruise cancellations is an appropriate measure, says expert

After confirming that three cruises circulated in the country with confirmed cases of Covid-19, Anvisa must request, this Monday (3rd), the cancellation of new cruise trips and that ships dock.

The most recent one landed this Sunday (2) in Rio with 28 people infected and 40 suspects.

The agency issued a notice contraindicating the boarding of passengers who have trips scheduled for the next few days.

In an interview with CNN, the sanitarist physician at the Emílio Ribas Infectology Institute, Ana Freitas Ribeiro, says that the measure to be recommended by Anvisa to the federal government is adequate.

The specialist emphasizes the ease of transmission of the Ômicron variant of the coronavirus, and the cruise environment.

“The main form of transmission is respiratory. Ventilation inside cruises is more by air conditioning than natural ventilation”, he said.

She points out that, despite the recommendation of cruises to operate with 75% of the public capacity, it is difficult to reach the recommended distance between people due to the fraternization environment.
