Anvisa asks the federal government to restrict flights from four more countries in Africa

The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) sent, this Wednesday (1st), a letter to the Civil House requesting the restriction of flights from four more African countries: Angola, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia, due to the Ômicron variant of the coronavirus.

However, even with the recommendation, a flight departing from Luanda, capital of Angola, has an estimated landing at Guarulhos airport, in São Paulo, at 1:30 am, this Friday (3), with 300 passengers.

In the statement, Anvisa also reiterates that it requests more than one to the Interministerial Committee the adoption of quarantine or self-quarantine for the entry of travelers into Brazil.

According to the Agency, if the measures were complied with, they would help “contain the spread of the disease by interrupting the chain of transmission of variants of the virus, as it aims to avoid the traveler’s contact with other susceptible people.”

It is still recommending the request for a complete vaccination certificate for entry into the country, citing that it is “even more necessary given the identification of the omicron variant in national territory and the consequent effort to contain it.”

Nogueira, at the time, explained that the decision taken jointly by the Civil House, Ministry of Infrastructure, Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security would be to “protect Brazilians in this new phase of the pandemic in that country”.
