The National Health Surveillance Agency published a resolution that prohibits the sale, distribution and manufacture of food supplements that carry ora-pro-nobis in its composition. Companies are also prohibited from advertising on plant use.
The resolution was published in this Thursday’s edition (3) of the Federal Official Gazette.
According to Anvisa, the ora-pro-nobis (Pereskia aculeata) is not authorized as a constituent of food supplements.
In the justification for the determination, Anvisa cites “the commercialization and broadcast of irregular advertisements of various food supplements with composition in disagreement with the specific technical regulation of the product”.
Ora-pro-nobis is presented by manufacturers as a substance that assists in weight loss, pain relief and control of cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
This content was originally published in Anvisa prohibits the sale of food supplements containing ora-pro-nobis on the CNN Brazil website.
