Anvisa: proof of vaccination for entry into Brazil becomes valid

The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) notified, this Monday (13), all border posts, especially airports, for immediate compliance with the decision of the Supreme Court (STF) that determines the collection of proof of vaccination for travelers entering the country.

“The decision had immediate effect, without a deadline for adaptation, and, therefore, requires the Agency to carry out specific assessments, especially in relation to passengers who were already moving or in transit at the time the decision was issued”, he said to Anvisa through a note.

This Sunday (12), the government held a meeting with technicians from the Ministries of Health, Infrastructure, International Relations, AGU (General Advocacy of the Union), Ministry of Justice, Civil House and Anvisa to discuss the “adjustments of borders” after the decision of the STF.

“Thus, Anvisa started to collect proof of vaccination at the same time as it carries out punctual assessments for cases in which the traveler may be harmed by the change in rules between the period of departure and arrival in Brazil”, explains Anvisa.

The charging and guidance to travelers is being implemented throughout this Monday at all airports with international flights arriving.

STF decision

Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), determined this Saturday (11) that the passport for the vaccine is mandatory for all foreign travelers who land in Brazil.

Only those dispensed for medical reasons or those who come from a country where there is proven no vaccine available or for exceptional humanitarian reasons will be exempt from presenting the vaccine passport.
