Anxiety in South Africa: 289 workers trapped in gold mine

The South African company Sibanye Stillwater announced today that efforts are being made to rescue 289 mines trapped under Earth in one of the wells of the Kloof Gold Mine near Johannesburg. The workers are safe and are at a concentration point in the gold mine, about 60 kilometers west of Johannesburg, the company said. He did not give further details on the incident, although a Sibanye spokesman confirmed that it had happened in the Kloof 7 of the mine, adding that all workers have given life and their company provides food.
