Russia will face any cyber attack on its satellites as a cause of war, the head of the Russian space agency warned today.
Dmitry Rogozin, head of Roscosmos, denied reports that Russian satellite control centers had been the target of cyber-attacks due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and warned of any attempt to do so, Interfax reported.
“Putting the satellites of any country off the internet is in fact a casus belli, a cause of war,” Rogozin said.
He also asked the British-based technology company OneWeb to give guarantees to Moscow that its satellites would not be used against Russia.
If that does not happen, the head of Roscosmos has indicated that the launch of 36 OneWeb satellites scheduled for March 4 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, which Moscow rents from Kazakhstan, will be canceled, and Russia will not compensate the company.
