According to the Taiwanese publication DigiTimes, seven companies from Apple’s supply chain have begun shipping components for the next-generation fully wireless AirPods.
The list of companies includes Semco, LG Innotek, Kinsus, Unimicron, Nan Ya, Zhen Ding and AT&S. The information was provided by industry sources familiar with the current situation. It is also reported that the new next-generation AirPods are expected to go on sale later in the year.
The third-generation AirPods are expected to be similar to the AirPods Pro, but with a shorter stem. At the same time, they will cost significantly less than AirPods Pro, due to the rejection of such premium features as active noise cancellation.
The third-generation AirPods could be unveiled in September at the iPhone 13 press conference or at a later event.
