A Apple informed on Tuesday (23) that it will hold a event on May 7th amid news that it will launch the long-awaited revamped versions of iPad Pro It's from iPad Air next month.
The California-based company did not release details about the event.
Bloomberg News reported in March that Apple's overseas suppliers had increased production of the new iPads and that a launch was planned for early May.
The new models would be Apple's first redesign in this line since 2018. Apple introduced the iPad in January 2010.
The possible launch comes at a time of falling iPad sales. Sales fell 25% to US$7.02 billion (about R$34 billion) in the first quarter, while those of the iPhone, its most popular product, are also declining.
It's a safe bet that new iPads will be released that day, given the image of an Apple Pencil and artwork on the invitation, said Ben Bajarin, chief executive of consulting firm Creative Strategies.
The tablet market is under pressure as economic uncertainty deepens and consumers cut back on non-essential spending, but Apple hopes to combat the drop in demand with new products.
iPad sales contributed just 5.9% of the company's total net sales of $119.58 billion in the first quarter ended December 30.
