Apple does not want to give up the commission in the App Store in Russia: the company has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Antimonopoly Service

American tech giant Apple has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia, trying to challenge the demand to “stop abusing its position in the market,” which the regulator accused the Cupertino-based company of.

Apple is seeking a judicial review of a warning that forces the iPhone manufacturer to allow app developers to inform customers about alternative payment methods when using the App Store platform.

The warning issued by a government agency in August set September 30 as the deadline for Apple to resolve the issue. Then the regulator warned that the Cupertino company could face a fine, which will be calculated based on its income in Russia.

Apple does not want to give up the commission in the App Store in Russia: the company has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Antimonopoly Service

In October, the national antitrust authority filed a lawsuit against the company for non-compliance. IOS device users, along with developers, have filed a complaint with the regulator that it is often cheaper to buy a product on a retailer’s website than on an Apple platform. The difference in price is due to a commission of up to 30%, which Apple takes on every payment in the App Store. At the same time, application developers are prohibited from informing users about alternative payment methods. They are also not allowed to post links to their site.

Earlier this year, the FAS fined Apple RUB 906 million for violating competition principles.
