The iOS 15.2.1 and iPadOS 15.2.1 update is free to download on all supported devices. The software is available over the air in the Settings app. To get access to the new software in the “Settings” you need to go to the “Basic” section and select “Software update”.

According to Apple’s release notes, iOS 15.2.1 and iPadOS 15.2.1 fixes an issue that could prevent photos sent as an iCloud link from loading in Messages. In addition, iOS 15.2.1 further fixes a bug that could cause third-party CarPlay apps to not respond to input.

Additionally, this update fixes a serious HomeKit vulnerability that was first disclosed last year. It allowed, with the help of a special trick, to send any iPhone or iPad into an endless reboot cycle so that the device actually stopped working.
